Ms. Jo Ann Robinson
A 22 year resident of Bolingbrook, she is the founder and director of the H.E.A.R.T. Organization Community Service Program. Prior to starting the court ordered program, she created a program for children 5-12 years of age, affectionately known throughout her community as the “Spiritual Boot Camp Soldiers” which inspired the lives of hundreds of little children in Bolingbrook. Ms. Robinson served in prison ministry from 1993-1998 and she hosted an award winning cable show known as “From the Heart Show” that aired on channel 6 in Bolingbrook and received four awards from AT&T. Ms. Robinson has been awarded the prestigious “John F. Whiteside” lifetime achievement award from the Will County Sheriff’s Department, National “Chiefs of Police Citation”, and the Seekers of Justice Award from the Black Bar Association in 2012. She was voted “Citizen of the Year” by Mayor Roger Claar and honored by the American Association of University Women as “Distinguished Women of the Year.” In 2005 & 2006 she received the AT&T “Beyond the Call” award and was awarded “Female Citizen of the Year” by DuPage Township as well as being honored by the DuPage A.M.E. church for her work with at risk youth. Since opening its doors in 1999 the HEART Organization has assisted thousands of children, helping them avoid prosecution and convictions. The HEART Organization continues to be a main source of referral for judges who are her number one supporters. Ms. Robinson’s program has been featured in the Joliet Herald and Bolingbrook Sun and The Patch Newspaper. She attributes her successes to the abundant grace, love and gifts that the Lord has bestowed her!
